While watching beauty Youtube videos I am sure you have come across setting powders. Everyone swears by them. The real question is do you need to add a setting powder to your make up collection?
I say yes! I am the girl that has the shiny nose after only three hours of wearing makeup. For years I didn’t even think to set my make up with a powder. So after many hours of watching other beauty queens on youtube, I started looking for an all-around Good setting powder.
What is a setting powder? Why do I need it?
To give you some background setting powder is used to “set” your make up in place. Setting your makeup helps avoid shine and keep your makeup in place all day. Having oily skin means that a setting powder is a must for all-day wear.
Why Laura Mercier setting powder?
So many times I came across Laura Mercier translucent powder. Everyone always raves about this powder but I wasn’t ready to commit to the price. It retails for $38. I am a drugstore makeup person. The only setting powder I had was one I purchased from the beauty supply store. Needless to say, it did its job but was still lacking.
When Influenster sent me this setting powder to try I was ecstatic. This setting powder has the title of being the ultimate must-have for everyone’s makeup collection. So I put this powder to the test.
Yes, I was gifted this setting powder to try but all opinions are my own. I was not paid for this post. I honestly just want to share with you why this is my new go-to powder.
Benefits of Laura Mercier
- no-flashback formula means you’ll look great in photos
- creates a soft-focus effect to subtly blur the look of fine lines and imperfections without looking cakey
- truly translucent shades work on all skin tones—from the fairest to the deepest
- 12-hour wear with a healthy glow finish
For me my favorite benefit is that it doesn’t apply cakey at all. The powder is very fine and melts into your skin its amazing.
Put it to the test.
This past Saturday I had a birthday event to attend and decided to put this powder to the test. I did my make up at 12 pm. I then wore the make through preparation and even working ( I was the photographer for the event as well). It wasn’t until 8pm where my oils started to take over. My nose got oily but even in photos, it gave me a flawless look even in flash photos.
I have no idea how this powder was able to accomplish this flawless look and diminish my oiliness in photos. This makes this powder worth every cent.
Tips for using this powder
This powder is a great addition to the original translucent powder by Laura Mercier. With this powder having a hint of highlight it best used on cheeks, chin, nose and lightly on the forehead. I wouldn’t recommend this powder as your main powder but its great to highlight. Also, invest in the Glow brush it makes applying this powder effortlessly.
